If you need to decide between a mixer or an field recorder. This video is worth watching. I use the Zoom H4nPro as audio interface on my Mac. Have a look how. The driver I have is version 3.0.1.5. It takes a while to detect the H4n when first plugged into the USB port but eventually works fine. On another laptop we have, the same driver does not seem to work. There is a flicker when the H4n is first plugged into the USB port but it doesn't seem to register it as a recording device. How to fix the mic problem (no sound recorded) when you connect the Zoom H4n recorder to a PC USB slot? You can use the Zoom H4n as a high quality mic for your video recordings that gets recorded straight to your PC/Laptop. You need to turn on the Audio Interface option to do so.
Was wondering if anyone has tried to set it up as an audio interface with Logic Pro. Just bought a Zoom H4n. Should receive it mid next week. I've seen various web claims that it works through its usb cable but i was wondering exactly how well does it work? I currently use a Saffire Pro 24DSP (and love it) but it would be great to be able to utilize the H4n's two XLR inputs. That with the Saffire Pro 24 would give me 4 total XLR inputs going into Logic Pro. Perhaps a different cable config/ input/output other than usb?
